11th July dawned a glorious day for our Good Food in Greenwich Summer event in Woolwich. The sun shone down as we arrived to set up and already we could feel a buzz in the air. Global Fusion Music & Arts arrived with all their kit to get the stage up and running and the traders joined us to set up their wares. The Change for Life Road Show was in attendance giving out goody bags, and their chefs were cooking up a storm of healthy, easy to prepare snacks. Rollapaluza was there setting challenges for bike racing to get us active too, and Gardening for Health were giving out Seed Bombs to encourage people to get growing.

Our fabulous traders did a roaring trade and all our hard work paid off as people started pouring into the square to chill out to the music, play in the water fountains, eat some delicious food and enjoy the sunshine.
We had face painting, mask making and painting for the kids, and Wimbledon on the big screen for the tennis fans.

All in all it was a fantastic day that celebrated the incredible food Greenwich has to offer. CEO of GCDA Claire Pritchard said “The aim of the event was to raise awareness about Good Food in Greenwich, and thanks to the support and help from some great partners including Royal Borough Greenwich for funding the day, we had probably close to three thousand people come through the square. It really shows that there is a demand for good food in Woolwich, and with some of the best restaurants in London right on the square, we’re spoilt for choice! The event was a great success for the traders, information stalls and Good Food in Greenwich and we’ll start planning the next one very soon”
Chocolate Films very kindly filmed the day for us and you can see the result here
We’ll be starting to plan our Winter event very soon, so if you have any ideas then please get in touch and let us know! Email goodfig@gcda.org.uk
